Firework Laws Strictly Enforced in Pullman | News
The 4th of July is just around the corner and the Pullman Police Department has a few reminders about where you can legally buy your fireworks and when it's legal to use them.
While several fireworks stands will open on Monday, July 1st, it is illegal to set your fireworks off until July 3rd. All fireworks stands in Pullman have been inspected and are only selling legal fireworks. For those who choose to make purchases elsewhere, keep in mind that firecrackers and bottle rockets are illegal.
Purchasing fireworks over the internet is illegal. In Washington State all fireworks must be purchased from a licensed retailer and must be done only during the legal sales period.
Pullman Police will be actively patrolling for firework violations and will be strictly enforcing the fireworks ordinance. There is a $100 fine for setting them off outside of the designated firework periods. The State Fire Marshal's Office reports that last year there were 26 fires and 64 injuries caused by illegal fireworks.
Legal Firework Discharge Times:
- Wednesday, July 3rd, 9am to 11pm
- Thursday, July 4th, 9am to Midnight
- Fireworks are not allowed during the 4th of July community celebration in Sunnyside Park
