Despite losses, Cougar fans still support Leach

Fans from as far away as Texas are in Pullman tonight to watch the Cougars and the UCLA Bruinsbattle it out on the football field.

Reeve Jackson and his wife, Laura made the trip from Tyler, Texas to Spokane on Friday.

"We're here to celebrate our coach and wherever he is that's where we'll be," Reeve said.

Reeve is a Texas Tech alum and was a law student during the Mike Leach era. For their anniversary, Laura surprised Reeve with a trip to Pullman to see Mike Leach "The Pirate" in action.

"I'm super excited," Laura said.

"I can't wait to be there. I can't wait to see Leach in action again," shesaid.

Not all Cougar fans share this excitement with the Jackson's. With only two wins this season and the Cougar's star wide receiver suspended this week, Leach's unique coaching style has come under intense scrutiny. Fans are particularly unhappy with offensive struggles.

Laura says the Cougar fans need to be patient.

"The hype is definitely worth it and especially when he starts getting some of his recruits, he's going to find the diamonds in the rough out there. I promise you when his recruits get here y'all are going to see a great game," Laura said.

Even thought tonight's game against the Bruins is expected to be tough, Reeve is keeping an optimistic attitude.

"If you can make it through the lean times you'll be there to enjoy the fat times and they are going to come," Reeve said. "The thing I love about mike leach football is we could be down 40-50 points, headed into the fourth quarter and you knew it was still a game and you could still pull it out."

The only concern the Jackson's have is the weather.

"The weather is a little different. Y'all can use some heat," Reeve said.

"I think we brought every jacket and long sleeve shirt we own. They're all in a backpack which tells you how few there are so we may do some shopping before we hit the game."

The Jackson's aren't the only fans from Texas. 48 Texans have season tickets to the Cougars.
