WSU reports huge sales for crimson license plates

Somewhere out there, 3,452 WSU license plates are bleeding crimson. The one-color plates introduced a 20 percent increase of Cougar plate sales with the Department of Licensing since they debuted on January 23rd.

Jud Preece with the WSU Alumni Assocation confirms the demand for the all-crimson plates. 2,760 of those license plates were purchased by first-time WSU plate owners.

For each plate sold, $28 goes back to the university as a donation for their scholarship fund. The increased sales means an additional $80,000 is going to scholarship support for WSU students so far this year.

Preece says WSU plates are the number one selling license plate in the state.
