Fire destroys semi on US 195 | News
Jason Wells says he was the driving at highway speeds when his semi caught fire early this morning on US 195 about five miles south of Pullman. He escaped injury, but the truck was destroyed.
"I got the truck stopped off the edge of the road and out of it before it really went up in flames," Wells says. He left his phone in the truck when he got out, and had to wait about six or seven minutes for a passing car to stop and call it in.
The Washington State Patrol says the fire did not spread to the trailer, which was hauling paper. The highway was reopened at about 3:45 a.m.
Wells says the cause of the engine fire may have been a broken fuel line.
