Giant WSU letters raised at new visitor center | News
The 15 foot tall concrete letters marking the entrance to Washington State University's new visitor center were raised on Wednesday morning. The giant W, S, and U will serve as a new front door to the university.
“It's fun to do these kinds of special projects,” said Project Manager Jeff Lannigan. This particular project took some careful though as the W alone weighs 40,000 pounds.
The center will highlight student, teacher, athletic and research contributions to the school. The visitor center is located on the west-central edge of the WSU campus at Main and NE Spring streets.
“This is a perfect location for the new visitor center, it is right on the cusp of campus and right on the edge of downtown, so we get the perfect transition between the City of Pullman and WSU and it really works out best for everyone,” said Lannigan.
It will certainly be hard to miss the entrance to WSU with the new letters, the visitor center is on scheduled to open in September.
