Train may have sparked small brush fire | News
Volunteer rural firefighter in southern Whitman County battled a canyon fire Wednesday afternoon along the Snake River.
KQQQ reports the blaze was spotted around 2pm near Granite Point on State Route 193. Crews from fire District 14 out of Colton Uniontown and District 12 out of Pullman responded.
The volunteers were able to knock the fire down after about 30 minutes despite gusty winds. The fire burned about four acres. District 14 Chief Jim Day-Mun says the fire may have been sparked by a passing train.
