Safety Fair honors fallen officer | Events
The Officer Newbill Kids Safety Fair will be Saturday, June 1st, and will have lots of fun activities and helpful information to keep your children safe.
The event is named in honor of Officer Lee Newbill who was killed during a shooting spree on May 18th, 2007. He was the first officer in Moscow's history to be killed in the line of duty. Newbill was always involved in the fair and performed safety checks there every year.
Event organizers wanted to honor Newbill's service and renamed the fair to carry his name shortly after his death.
This year, the activity booths include free bike helmets and fittings for kids under 16, as well as bike inspections and a bike rodeo. There will also be child I.D. Kits and emergency contact cards available for families to keep in their records.
Lifelight will be giving helicopter tours and there will also be tours of ambulances and firetrucks. Rotary Club & Food will be providing hot dogs and other snacks.
The Officer Newbill Kids Safety Fair will be Saturday, June 1st, at the Eastside Marketplace parking lot from 10am-2pm. The event looks like it will not only be a fun family fair, but also a great way to honor a man who died trying to keep his community safe.
