Former Whitcom 911 Employee Guild treasurer Emily Kirk  was sentenced on Friday to 60 days in jail with 30 days converted to community service for forging guild checks and making cash transactions that totaled $13,910.

The case was uncovered in August 2012 while Kirk was on vacation when the guild's president discovered payments and withdrawals that did not appear to be legitimate.

The 31-year-old woman previously pled guilty in Whitman County Superior Court to 1st-degree theft and forgery. According to the Washington State Attorney General’s Office, Kirk was also ordered to pay fines totaling $800. She has fully paid the restitution owed.
