The First Annual “Night of Stars” Dinner and Auction Making Dreams Comes True
The First Annual “Night of Stars” Dinner and Auction Making Dreams Comes True

“Night of Stars” is the Spokane Chapter’s first annual fundraising event that benefits the Wishing Star foundation.  This event is open to the public and is held at The Center on Sixth in Downtown Spokane on Saturday, November 10 at 5:30 pm.  The dinner and auction will feature amazing live and silent auction items from hotels, restaurants and many local businesses.  Individual ticket prices are $50 or $350 for a table of 8.  Each ticket comes with an elegant dinner and desert as well as an opportunity to bid on our fantastic auction items.

But the event is about so much more than raising money. It's about making wishes come true for kids who are so deserving for kids like Ethan Hegge who is six years old. Ethan lives in Spokane and suffers from Congenital Encephalopathy. Some of the complications from this brain disease are blindness, not being able to speak and various other delays. His brain will continue to deteriorate resulting in changes in personality and cognitive alterations. Some of the things that Ethan loves are dancing, car rides, noisy toys and school. When we met with Ethan it was clear that he wants a therapy room. A place of his own where he can have various stimulating activities. At this time Ethan’s family is in a small apartment and are in the process of finding a larger home where Ethan can have the therapy room. In the mean time Ethan and his family participate in various Wishing Star events like the carousel party.

During The “Night of Stars” theme, guests will feel like a million bucks as they walk the red carpet and have their photo snapped by the paparazzi.  With many generous local businesses and some great sponsors organizers are promising it will be a night to remember.  The Wishing Star Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 1983 with the mission to provide kids with hope through uplifting and rejuvenating experiences.  It serves kids in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.  They grant wishes for children between the ages of 3 and 21 with life threatening illnesses.  What sets the Wishing Star apart from similar organizations is its dedication to stick with wish kids and their families with the “Beyond the Wish” program.  Even long after the wish has been granted, Wishing Star continues to keep in touch with and surprise wish families with extra gifts and attention when it is needed most.  Last year, Wishing Star granted 32 wishes.  An average wish costs $5,000.  “A Night of Stars” hopes to raise enough money to grant 5 wishes ($25,000).  Wishing Star has made a difference in the lives of over 1,200 families.  For more information about “Night of Stars” or to purchase tickets please visit our website www.wishingstar.org or contact Sarah Carpenter or Jessica Medlen at (509) 744-3411.
