Radio-A-Thon raises $10,000 for United Way | Business
From Inland Northwest Broadcasting:
The Second annual Bull Country Community Cares Radio-A-Thon sponsored by Sam Dial Jewelers last Thursday and Friday, October 10th and 11th, raised the second year fundraiser goal: exactly $10,000.
The fundraiser for the United Way of Pullman and United Way of Moscow/Latah County took place over 30 consecutive hours at the home of the Bull Country 99.5 FM in Moscow. The broadcast studio that was set up in the Conference Room of the Inland Northwest Broadcasting studio hosted volunteers from the 35 different, beneficiary and local non-profit organizations as well as many community members and employees of the local non-profits.
Some of the highlights of the Second Annual Bull Country Community Cares Radio-A-Thon included a call for businesses to contribute on Thursday morning from Inland Cellular and was issued again Friday morning of the event by Regional Business Manager of Avista Utilities, Paul Kimmel.
Avista not only made a contribution the morning before but Kimmel also called in to the fundraiser and increased Avista’s pledge to include the final few-hundred dollars needed to meet the $10,000 goal just seconds before noon on Friday, when the phone lines closed.
The $10,000 goal was reached with a total of more than one-hundred donations and included the largest single pledge of $1,000 by an anonymous donor. This year also included a pre-pledge drive that took place at select businesses and locations around Whitman and Latah County which brought in $775 before the 30-hour fundraiser even started.
Over the 30 hours, members of the community and businesses were encouraged to call in and pledge donations to benefit the local non-profit agencies that receive funding from the two United Way agencies.
This year, title sponsor and contributor, Sam Dial of Sam Dial Jewelers in Downtown Pullman also joined the Bull Country team during Thursday afternoon’s broadcast. The event was also sponsored this year by Washington Trust Bank, The Daily Grind Espresso, American West Bank, Zeppoz and Mr. Z’s Casino, WSECU and C & L Locker Co.
