Apple Cup Crisp named one of America's best frozen treats | Business
The Food Network has named an Eastern Washington treat one of the most delicious frozen desserts in America. You'll have to make the drive to Ferdinand's Ice Cream Shoppe at WSU to get a scoop of Apple Cup Crisp ice cream.
Apple Cup Crisp was created as Ferdinand's Signature Flavor in 2002 and honors the age old rivalry with the University of Washington. Vanilla ice cream is swirled with caramel and apple flavoring and filled with bits of oatmeal cookie and touches of special spices.
“It's really a unique flavor that people can't get anywhere else,” explains Eric Needham, Supervisor at Ferdinand's.
Even though the Apple Cup Crisp has been named one of the best frozen treats in the nation, it's not the most popular flavor at the shop. Needham estimates that it falls somewhere in the middle on the scale of popularity. It's new title as best frozen dessert in Washingotn and one of the best in all 50 states might change that.
Ferdinand's Ice Cream Shoppe is part of the WSU Creamery, better known for it's extra sharp Cougar Gold Cheese. Revenue from the creamery supports students in the School of Food Services and provides them valuable work experience.
Whether you live in Pullman or go down once a year for a football game make sure to swing by Ferdinand's Ice Cream Shoppe and grab a scoop, or two, of the Apple Cup Crisp.
You can find the ice cream counter in the Food Quality Building at WSU, just two blocks east of the Biotech and Life Sciences Building and Indoor Practice Facility.
