An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a fire that damaged the Navy ROTC building at the University of Idaho in Moscow.

The blaze engulfed portions of the building before firefighters brought it under control and was discovered by a security guard, but does not appear to be suspicious.

A small crowd gathered at the scene shortly before 7 p.m., when flames could be seen coming out of the attic.

Once firefighters determined the building could be safely entered, students and staff began salvaging photos, documents, uniforms, flags and other items.

How about a bike ride along the Route of the Hiawatha?
