Largest Private Photo Collection Of Heart Mountain Internment Camp Destined For WSU

Washington State University will soon become home to the largest private collection of photos taken during World War II at an internment camp for Japanese-Americans in Heart Mountain, Wyoming. In addition, the National Park Service recently announced it is providing WSU with a $49,217 matching grant to help digitize and preserve the collection, which includes more than 2,000 original black and white photo negatives.

Student Team Places Third at National Geothermal Student Competition

Students at the University of Idaho earned third place last month in a National Geothermal Student Competition (NGSC). Their project involved evaluating the geothermal resources of the Rio Grande Rift in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado.

"This is really an important award, because we have been trying to establish an energy geosciences initiative at the university for several years," said Jerry Fairley, associate professor of geological sciences and the faculty sponsor of the team.

Police Report: Pullman's Very Own Dancing Woman

A report of a dancing woman made its way to the Pullman Police Department Tuesday morning. She was seen in the 100 block of Ann Street just behind Larry Street. The reporting party said she almost caused a vehicle accident the other night with her behavior. Officers responded and it was determined that the woman in her early 20s just likes to dance around town.

Three people were injured in a rollover crash Tuesday morning on Highway 195 south of Colfax.

Maybe the Keys Were in the Cake

Thursday evening, the reporting party was busy making a cake. Fast forward to 6:59 a.m. the next morning, he calls the Pullman Police Department to report that someone had stolen his keys off of his coffee table. His door was open. Officer Carl Bell responded to the scene and first reported that there were no suspects. In a follow up call with the shift Sgt., he said  it was decided that the reporting party had just misplaced his keys. 

Curious minds would like to know what kind of cake he was making.
